Coed Pee-Wee basketball Age 4-5
This is a program designed for the enjoyment of basketball for 4 and 5 year old beginner athletes. All players must be 4 by December 31st. All players participate. They will learn the basics of how to dribble and how to shoot. KRA has purchased special backboard attachments for this age group, which lowers the backboard and rim to a six foot height. Games and practices will be held at Fairfield Elementary School gym. Practices begin in December, games start in January and run through 1st or 2nd week of March. Jerseys will be provided for all players. The registration fee is $55. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
Coed JR Farm - Ages 6-7
This is a program designed for beginner athletes. All players participate. They will learn dribbling, shooting, passing skills and the flow of a real game. Rules will be posted on the web site. Games and practices will be played at gyms in the Kempsville area. Practices begin in December, games start in January and run through 1st or 2nd week of March. Jerseys will be provided for all players. The registration fee is $55. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
Farm - Ages 8-9
This program is for all athletes with experience and those starting out. All players participate. This age group works on improving skills, learning the game and may be their first experience with a little more competitive basketball. Rules will be posted on the web site. Games and practices will be played at gyms in the Kempsville area. Practices begin in December, games start in January and run through 1st or 2nd week of March. Jerseys will be provided for all players. The registration fee is $55. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
KRA offers boys basketball Ages 10-18 through the City Wide Athletics Program
Age groups will be separated into the leagues of ages 10-12, ages 13-14, ages 15-18. The players will play in the City Wide Athletics program according to the respective rules and regulations. This program is sponsored by KRA; however, KRA does not have the jurisdiction to override those rules. Rules and regulations will be provided to the coaches at the City Parks and Recreation Area coaches meeting. A jersey be provided for the season. Practices will be held in Kempsville area gyms. The City Parks and Recreation Department makes the game schedules and locations to be held within the City limits. The season lasts for approximately 10 weeks. The registration fee is $55. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
