Parent Information

Your Role As a KRA Parent:

KRA is an entirely volunteer organization. We depend on adults like you to organize and conduct every aspect. Not only do adults serve as administrators and volunteer coaches, they also help with field maintenance, fund-raising, concessions, and numerous other special projects. Cheering your daughter or son on from the stands is one important way to be involved, but we invite you to do even more by volunteering to help run your local Little League program.
In baseball each team will be seeking help from team parents to assist in such jobs as; after game snacks, collection of uniforms, possible assistance at the concession stand, or maybe even field maintenance prior to games. PLEASE offer your assistance to the Coach.

It is also very important that parents attend all practices and games. Coaches are NOT allowed to be “baby sitters”. You may NOT drop your child off at practice and return at the end.
It is also very important that not only the Coach, but the parent to teach good sportsmanship, character, and honesty to your child and others.

Simple parental rules to remember during baseball are:
A child that lives with criticism, learns to condemn.
A child that lives with hostility, learns to fight.
A child that lives with praise and approval, learns to like themselves.
Children that live with honesty, learn what trust is.

As with any sport offered by KRA, we urge you to let your child determine the degree of his or her commitment to the sport. Don’t force a child to play anything. They wont get anything out of it if the desire is not there and may also feel stressed. You can encourage participation, but don’t pressure.

KRA and City of Virginia Beach Rules needed to know for Parents:

Do not falsify a birth date. (Expulsion from league)
Make sure your child wears no jewelry during practices and games.
Smoking is prohibited within the confines of the playing area during practices and games. NO alcohol is permitted on City or league premises. Profanity will not be permitted on or around the game/practice site. Violators will be removed and are subject to dismissal from this league. (Don’t embarrass your child.)
Any player, Coach, or spectator guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct toward an official on City property will be subject to suspension.
Any player or Coach ejected from the game by an official for unsportsmanlike conduct shall be suspended from the next league game played by their team.
Any player or Coach ejected from the game by an official for fighting shall automatically be suspended for the next two games played by their team.

The following are examples of unsportsmanlike conduct which KRA does not tolerate (PLEASE take time to read these with your child!!):

Boo’s, hisses, jeer’s, and other taunts targeted at any opposing team (including comments by parents in stands).
Any intentional acts that may cause injury to another player.
Any arguing, loud or animated discussion (for the benefit of surrounding ears) that projects unfavorably on the spirit of sportsmanship.
Any use of foul, vile, or profane language or gestures on or within the immediate vicinity of the playing field.
After the game, only the statement “Good game” is necessary during the handshaking.
Comments made by the fielding team to base runners are not necessary (negative comments are considered unsportsmanlike conduct).
