Fast-Pitch Softball

Kempsville Recreation Association offers Fast-Pitch softball ages
7 - 15. (Pigtail Fast Pitch) Ages 7-9,  (Preteen Fast Pitch) Ages 10-12 & (Juniors Fast Pitch) Ages 13-15

The age cut off date for each division will be May 1st for both spring and fall seasons.

Pigtails

This division is designed for girls 7 – 9 years of age. The pitcher’s mound is 35 feet from home plate and the bases are spaces at 55 feet. The girls play the game as the big girls do, including stealing, bunting, and sliding.

Preteen 10 – 12 & Juniors 13 – 15

These two divisions are governed by the City of Virginia Beach Athletics Department. Teams will compete against teams from recreation association all across the city.

Equipment

Kempsville Recreation Association provides each of our teams with practice balls, game balls; NOCSAE approved batting helmets, and catcher’s gear. We do provide each with a limited number of bats, but it is best for each child to have a bat that they are comfortable with and have no problem swinging.

Facilities

Kempsville Recreation Association has twelve practice fields that are utilized by our Baseball and Softball Programs. (No looking for practice fields, all teams are assigned designated KRA fields).

Fall Softball 

Kempsville Recreation Association offers fall softball through the Southside Softball League organized and operated by Kempsville Recreation Association Board Members.
